Nutree Club, a vegan brand, is posting anti-LGBTQ+ responses to this beautiful post of the Pride Parade in Galway, which, given the overlap of the LGBTQ+ community and the vegan community, is a fascinating approach to how to advertise your company. www.instagram.com/reel/DbyXPXu... #vegan #vegans

And in both cases their worldview was they like fascism. So that resulted in antifascist slogans like Black Lives Matter, Defund The Police & others being interpreted disingenuously or treated as confusing and fascist slogans like MAGA being interpreted favorably or patriotically.

Climate change is accelerating beyond all but the most dire predictions but also so many stories about ecology restoration also feature systems bouncing back faster and more thoroughly than scientists anticipated, people can fix (the worst of) this but we need to overthrow the capitalist economy

Blanche was confirmed as AG. Just a reminder: The last time a president appointed an attorney he had personal ties to, was when Nixon appointed his law partner and campaign manager John Mitchell. Mitchell ended up disbarred and spent 2 yrs in prison for his role as AG protecting Nixon.

Just causally referencing Nazi theorist Carl Schmitt, as if it's unremarkable conventional wisdom, the typical basis of a political worldview. And very positive about right-wing populism. And (elsewhere, not in this column) pines for an American Orban. But, you know, not sure where he stands. 9/x

Then, finally, all of these political forces — the unpopular populists, the flailing establishment, the rising left — are displaying their vices in the shadow of the artificial intelligence revolution, which is creating new zones of power in which the friend-enemy distinction is almost impossible for me to parse.

FWIW: much of the time when a group announces "plans to spend $15m" on a buzzy topic, what they actually mean is that they're going to tap into the buzzy topic to try to raise $15m that they do not currently have. this is not a plan, it's a fundraising pitch to panicking donors

Elon Musk says he's going to have a robot workforce on the moon soon. "Third Way" centrist Democrats say they're going to spend $15 million to fight the specter of socialism. Sure, sure. Assholes say a lot of things.

Tales of everyday corruption. Pete Hegseth cancelled the $400,000 contract for making uniforms for the Blue Angels on the grounds that the contract with "The Sewing Box" was DEI since the firm is Black-owned. Instead, he awarded it to a Trump donor for $1,690,000, a 325% price increase!

This has been ICE’s playbook. They threatened the Ithaca sheriff with criminal charges in early 2025 and of course nothing came of it because it was legally flimsy at best, we reported at the time: boltsmag.org/new-york-she...

Federal officials have threatened Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt that failure to provide immigration agents access to inmates eligible for deportation could result in criminal charges.

🧵🧵 After 16 months on the sidelines, far-right billionaire Tim Dunn is getting involved in the Texas race for US Senate. Dunn's entry comes as Ken Paxton, whose political life he once bankrolled, trails in some polls and is getting killed in spending by James Talarico.

Ken Paxton’s Far-Right Billionaire Backer Has Returned

Tim Dunn, once among Paxton’s biggest donors, seemed to pull back from financially supporting the candidate in 2025. A recent campaign-finance report shows he’s finally getting involved in the Senate ...

Climate pals, what are your favorite examples of actions that simultaneously reduce climate pollution and help us adapt to climate changes that we can no longer avoid? Joint Adaptation and Mitigation (JAM), if you will.
