Activist, nerd, nature lover, Catholic, mom. Sometimes antisocial, always antifascist. All opinions are my own.

A statistic that haunts me because it is 100% true and shocking and useless in advocacy precisely because it is true and shocking: Policy that enables a 1-car lifestyle rather than 2 is equivalent to giving a family a $25,000 annual pay raise.

This story buries the lede, but if you pull out a calculator and do the math, AAA found that the average American spends $15,031 a year for a single car! www.cnbc.com/2026/09/14/c...

It is beyond understandable to me how parents are worried about #books in the library and #trans kids trying to live their lives but do not get incandescently angry every time there is an e-mail about the active shooter safety drill their kids have to do.

Reading a bunch of 2024 polling information and really amazing seeing all these descriptions of how young white, male voters swung harder for Trump than other groups and amazing how none of them are willing to talk about the obvious.

I don't want to dwell on Platner forever. But I will say that the fact that Platner and Swalwell had to drop out but Paxton is in the race and Trump is president says *everything* about who has the part of values.

Me, when we're out for ice cream: I love root beer floats so much. Husband: You know, we can get root beer and vanilla ice cream. You can have root beer floats whenever you want. Me: That's not the same. I don't want them at home. Husband: I'll buy them tonight. Me: *deep sigh*

I have two girls who play sports. I am far more concerned about the additional potential costs (in time and money) and how they verifying girls in sports than I ever have been about a passionate trans girl being good at one of their sports.

The notion that the president has absolute power over creations of Congress is already nuts, with no basis in law, but it reaches utterly absurd when it includes an unwritten "but not when some Supreme Court Justices feel like he's messing with the money" exception.

We have Slaughter and Cook. By a 6–3 vote, SCOTUS overturns Humphrey's Executor and lets Trump fire heads of independent agencies. But by a 5–4 vote, it refuses to let him fire Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p... www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

Any discussion of Platner needs to recognize that a D is better than an R at this point in time. Even if we end up with another Fetterman situation, caucus and subpoena power is based on party, full stop, and I would vote for Platner over Collins.
