I'd love to credit whoever wrote this. No idea. But I'm 100% with its message. When I think of how the '80s ethos, "Greed is Good" has metastasized, it surprises and depresses me. Imagine having so many millions, hundred of millions, even billions & caring about nothing except your own vanity.

Got all the syllabi made but now I'm tired and sad. I find I have less capacity for challenging brainwork than I once did. (I am having to change these up substantially Because of Reasons*) (*doing what I can to reduce the temptation to students who might use AI to use it in class)
I've said it many times before but it's good I'm not a powerful deity because humanity would have wound up a smoking crater long ago, and if they hadn't? this would do it.

Half of my syllabi are done. I had forgotten how much it sucks not having a two-monitor set up when you need to , like, check things on other websites.
This is funny to me as an aunt of mine’s first husband had Ojala as his surname, except he was of Finnish heritage and it was pronounced OH-juh-lah

what will we do if they don't have our computers back on line when school starts on the 17th? will we expected to somehow do things by our phones? will I have to download everything I have on canvas to a thumb drive from home and work from that? Will they have portable chalkboards?

In re: "Air travel is worse" I don't debate that it's less PLEASANT (I haven't been on a plane in over 20 years, and even then I didn't enjoy it), but there are FAR fewer crashes than there were even 30 years ago

Searching for stuff online would suddenly get easier and more accurate. other than that? I'd be unaffected as I have no interest in using it in my work, it doesn't lend itself to teaching or academic writing.
