Understand if people are excited about tje D&D / Star Wars collab, but having played a handful of different systems, Edge of the Empire is the perfect system for Star Wars and honestly my favorite ttrpg system I've played to this day.

Unreal Engine peeps: Making a first person game. A room is flooded. It is not huge, but it is not small. The water is still. If I'd want to make ripples in the water from my first person characters walking - what would your solution be? Dynamic sim? Particle when player moves? Something else?

Bioware did 3 Mass Effects from scratch, starting from pre-production in 2004 and ending in 2012. With inferior tools, on inferior hardware, with limited knowledge. They made the first one in 3 years. They did all 3 story heavy cinematic RPGs in 8 years. Like, what are we doing here?

The game industry sure is saving a lot of money by firing everyone and not making games. But at least the fiscal year will look good on paper. Let's worry about the future at some other time. In the future, perhaps!

In other hot takes: I love that new god of war is basically ‘what if we took the premise of that cancelled gladiator 2 script by Nick Cave really fucking seriously’ I sincerely love it. Games do great things when they commit to the bit with slightly silly ideas.

I really detest gen AI for many reason, but the two at the top is: 1. I cannot just enjoy things anymore. I have to feel like I'm trying to decode an alien language every time someone sends me a funny image or video. 2. Easily finding reference for things has become impossible. So depressing.
