Today's @mrjamesob.bsky.social column in @theipaper.com cites @britishfuture.bsky.social research on how the public, esp migration sceptics, remains unaware of the massive drop in net migration – and how this is exploited by anti-immigration voices. inews.co.uk/opinion/fara...

To those who argue “all politicians are the same” I wonder if anyone has calculated the statistical ratio for “MPs to parliamentary investigations” across the parties. I’d wager it might be somewhat stark! 🫣

Also, Sarah’s side won the Battle of France in 1940 🤷🏻♂️
As Sarah Porchin (who hates ppl of colour appearing in ads) joins Farage and Tice under investigation over alleged dodgy financial dealings riddle me this.. Why is it that such a small party as Reform with so few MPs is oozing with so much sleaze vs Labour, LibDems, Greens and even the Tories⁉️🤔
Investigate Reform MP Over Donation, Campaigners Demand
Sarah Pochin, Reform UK MP for Runcorn and Helsby, is facing pressure over a £5,000 donation from food industry millionaires that stand to benefit from her campaigning. According to an investigation ...

Yesterday he had a former aide pose as a journalist and ask “why are you so badly treated by the media” 🤣🤣🤣
Nigel, the questions will stop when you can prove you've done nothing wrong. It's that simple.
From today, EU citizens have a legal right to know when they're talking to a bot or looking at a deepfake, backed by fines of up to €15m. Thanks to Brexit, we're missing out on this protection.

Our new research shows that London and the South East account for 28% of the population, but half of permanent secretaries, 52% of special advisers and 46% of peers went to school there No 10 North is an opportunity to reverse that trend, writes @suttontrust.bsky.social's Nick Harrison
No 10 North could change who runs Britain
Privately educated Londoners still dominate decision-making. We now have a chance to reverse that trend.

Von der Leyen gives update on Ceuta crisis: - She confirms "not a single person reached mainland Spain or the rest of the EU" - She says "lessons learned" are needed to strengthen the common border system - She urges "solidarity and a united European response" to stop irregular migration
I held a conference call with Commissioners @magnusbrunner.bsky.social and Dubravka Šuica for an update on the situation in Ceuta. The good news is that the vast majority of those who arrived illegally have returned to Morocco, due to the effective work of Spanish and Moroccan law enforcement.
I've been seeing a lot of people responding to this with "there ought to be a law," but importantly, we haven't needed a law for this sort of thing because no prior president wanted to be known as a leader who would literally kill people in their hour of need for not voting for him
This is honestly one of the most shocking images coming out of this administration and that’s saying something
The clock is already ticking, Andy. The way we vote is (like so much else in our system) a Victorian relic. Almost every other country in the world has ditched it. With fair votes, we can have fairer, clearer and better informed debates on the most important issues - and get better solutions too.

This feels like it got buried amid all of the mounting allegations around Reform and Farage's funding. Farage leases property that he owns, to his own company, at exactly £10,000/year. That's a penny under the "over £10,000" rental-income declaration threshold. What is he trying to hide?
Nigel Farage paying himself £50,000 in rent for studio at own property
The arrangement, which could enable the Reform UK leader to lower his tax bill, falls outside parliamentary transparency rules
