We also can't ignore the fact that the same racist undertones are informing the provincial government's decision to hold referendums on immigrants' place in society, and their opposition to hate speech reporting and investigations.

I understand why leaders and influencers want to contain the damage by claiming "not all separatists" are racist. But when you build a movement on anti-immigrant animosity, you shouldn't be surprised that your keynote speakers will say what the crowd wants to hear.+

For years now, I have been pointing to data to show that climate is the biggest driver of food price increase, and vanishingly few want to believe me, either because they are invested in "LOBLAWS EVIL!" or because they don't believe in climate change. The problem is, there is a LONG LONG list of democrats and republicans that have continued to serve for YEARS after being declared mentally/physically incapable. Placed in care facilities, families legally placed in charge of their decisions, etc. But continued to hold their seat.

The problem is, even if there is a process, it relies on people being transparent and the senate enforcing the rules. And that is clearly not going to happen in this regime.
