Underappreciated: US farmland *already substantially produces energy, not food*, and does so very inefficiently. Corn ethanol (~40% of all US corn) requires about 100 times more land per vehicle-mile driven than solar photovoltaics -> electric vehicles. Shifting corn to solar *would free up land*.

anytime people raise concerns about land use for solar projects or anything like that i just want to point out that half the corn we grow in this country gets used to make gasoline slightly worse

Playing through winter weather was a primary concern for the MLS calendar switch, particularly for northern teams. But heat index will hit 110º for tomorrow's Nashville–Miami match. This is bad for fans and objectively much more dangerous for players than the cold. Fewer games in this is good.

Notice something different? METRO station displays on bus rapid transit lines now show predicted departure times and the locations of approaching buses. The “Show My Bus” feature launched systemwide this week after a successful State Fair pilot last year.

In the US, zero emissions buses accounted for only 5.6% of total new bus registrations in recent data theicct.org/publication/... US is absolutely falling behind on this metric, and things seem to be getting worse in recent months.

I love living in an accessible place. Walked to the end of the block, caught a rapid bus that comes every 10 minutes. Rode it less than 2 miles to a library branch, grabbed my hold items (shout out to public libraries!), and hopped on the next bus back that came in a couple minutes. The dream.

Current air quality at I-35W and 35th Street South in Minneapolis, Minnesota is AQI 162, “unhealthy.” Carbon dioxide emissions caused by human combustion of hydrocarbons is a primary driver of climate change and increased wildfires.

I braved the storm to visit Sun Street for their penultimate Sunday. One of those neighborhood businesses we saw when house hunting a decade ago and thought “wouldn’t it be great to be within walking distance?” And it has been—we’ll miss it.
