Does unauthorized immigration drive community crime rates? Evidence from 11,500 U.S. neighborhoods

Miller gets hit in the face and maybe then the arm? by the ball, and it's a pen. Blech #NERevs
I stopped in at Hydra on the way to work this morning. Their parking lot is closed because its getting repaved. There was a line at Hydra anyways. #parkingday
Today is Park(ing) Day! The goal is to show how much space we devote to storing cars and how we could better utilize that space. We wrote about the sacrifices we all endure from this type of land use and what we can do about it on our website: reconnectrochester.org/2026/09/pond...

Devil: Greetings Donald. Trump: I knew I might end up here, so what's it going to be? D: It's a surprise. *Hours later, Trump settles into a windowless room with a television and read-only Internet browser* T: They're defaming me! Where's my phone? D: That's the surprise.
When he has no power left to throw the weight of the state and his private wealth at his enemies, when he is gone to some other realm where they don't allow you to post
I keep telling you…he just doesn’t understand how the economy works.
“We could do tremendous good for ourselves by just not trading with countries” — Trump’s bonkers view of trade is that you become wealthy by not engaging in commerce
"...a street that feels a little dangerous to speed on is a safer street. When you drive in an area with narrow lanes, parked cars close by, and people walking and riding bikes nearby, you naturally slow down and pay attention without being told to."
Your car is lying to you
People behave differently based on how dangerous their environment feels, not how dangerous it actually is.

Are the countries claiming that they have a working deal with Trump ready to admit yet that there’s no such thing? No country can have a deal with Trump, because Trump is incapable of sticking to any deal. Suggesting otherwise is make-believe.
The whole world needs to stand up to this out-of-control, corrupt, narcissistic bully and criminal, who literally doesn’t care that he’s imploding the US economy, hurting countless families and businesses, and dragging the entire global economy down with him. It actually may be his specific intent.
NIMBY Yogi Berra: nobody goes there anymore, the parking is always full.
Siquiera subbed on for his debut. 17 year old gets his first appearance subbing on for 18 year old Peyton Miller in Miller's 54th MLS game... #NERevs
The thing about speed cameras is that those of us advocating for them are *also* pushing for redesigning streets, but car brained politicians and NIMBYs fight these tooth and nail, so enforcement is one of our tools to slow down drivers. I'd love to not need speed cameras!
What I'm getting here is that I never stop riding my bike, I will never die
"Riding a bike for one hour extends the average cyclist’s life by the same amount of time, according to a study in the Netherlands, which also found that they live six months longer than people who do not ride bikes." road.cc/content/news...
Somewhere in a sweltering desert, cockroaches scurry around the cell of Carlitos Ricardo Parias. He holds up a plastic bottle, gazing at the worm-like creatures swimming in his water. His other arm is turning purple from a gunshot wound for which he says he hasn’t received proper medical care.
Two married professors and their son are being held in ICE detention, despite being legal permanent residents and having no criminal records. All, apparently, because their mom/MIL was a translator for the Iranian hostage takers in 1979, before they were even born. www.thenation.com/article/soci...
One Woman’s Message From the Hell of ICE Detention
My husband, son, and I have been locked up for months—despite being permanent residents with no criminal record. It is an unendurable, unending nightmare.

Incredible. When E—n M—k & his crew obliterated USAID in a weekend, they deleted a vast trove of publicly-funded knowledge: the Development Experience Clearinghouse. A Canadian high school student (!) happened to have downloaded the entire thing for a project. AidData has now posted it for all.
Before reimagining development data, remember what we’ve learned
Why we’re publishing a free, searchable, and ungated archive featuring a quarter-century of USAID evaluation reports.

The more you spend for software, the more dogshit it is. Something you bought on via the Kagi shareware store in 2004 for $20? Beautiful, maintained lovingly, works great. Something your state licenses for $10M/year to run an essential service? Absolute trash, horrific UI/UX, just the worst.
