Not fond of the SRW Y DLC price, but still, gonna let it breathe for a few weeks. SRW4 will launch this month though barring any major catastrophic finds.
I am very proud to announce that our English translation patch of London Spirit Detectives is now done and released on GitHub. Thanks to aishsha, bigbanana23, Cash Ogawa, Pennywise, Ryusui, TheMajinZenki and vervalkon What a wonderful project! See reply for details.
Swooping in from an archive of game design and concept docs: Character artwork and sketches from the development of sci-fi dungeon crawler Crime Crackers (1994, PS1) by Masato Kanamono (Kokomahi).
This is not a drill! An English patch for the original Super Famicom version of Kamaitachi no Yoru has just been released! This was created by ButThouMust, who previously published one of two English patches for Otogirisou several years ago. Patch in the link below: github.com/ButThouMust/...
I'm trembling while writing this: Kamaitachi no yoru—not the PC remake, not the iOS port, but the actual original SFC version—has been translated at last by ButThouMust, who graciously brought us an English patch for Otogirisou in the past. This is HISTORICAL.
Started Astlibra for #arpgaugust and it's fun but godDAMN is act 2 repetitive. Has me traversing the same half-dozen screens a half-dozen times in either direction. Go here, go back, go back again, go back *again*. It's not even backtracking, pure "something's wrong, we need to go back" repetition.
“How strong should the eject mechanism on this miniSD card slot be?” “Ah, just fuckin’ send it mate”
Happy first of August! If you're participating in the Community Game-Along, the theme this month is action role playing games. RPGs with elements of an action game (or 90% of western RPGs). To participate with us, use the tag #ARPGAugust!

Oh boy, it's that time of year again -- when the blue angels are overhead multiple times per day making it difficult to concentrate! I love where I live but there are a few days when it's kinda brutal. Whole house was shaking earlier.
Dug out a bunch of old CDs and am going through them. I forgot how good Green Day's Nimrod was.
In response to the unprecedented number of game developers laid off this year, we have created a bundle on itch to benefit a Game Industry Hardship Fund, managed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. More than 100 games for 10+ bucks! Please share widely and donate generously! itch.io/b/3802/game-...

like the reason why i spent any time on 4chan at all was because i had just gotten regular access to the internet and it was the only place where there was a critical mass of people who shared my same interests! THATS WHY *flails wildly* ALL THIS STUFF HAPPENED DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND????
girl even 4chan hated the anime board and those were the most maladjusted weirdos on the internet
This game!! So few people seem to know it but it was FOUNDATIONAL to my childhood! First game I ever played. and saying "laying the foundations for Myst" you have NO IDEA how important that means it was to so much of gaming
Between and beneath the Hypercard stacks, an adventure that pioneered the release of games for CD-ROM on personal computers in 1989. Whimsical exploration and conversations with weird and wonderful creatures, laying the foundations for Myst. 📺: The Manhole, 1988/1989, Cyan Inc. (Apple Macintosh)
For @aftermath.site : When Valve announced the Steam Machine, they showed off an eInk faceplate called the Inkterface used for internal testing. Many clamored for it. Instead of selling it, they made the entire thing open source. I built one, and so have many others. aftermath.site/steam-machin...
The Steam Machine's ePaper Faceplate Is Open Source And Full Of Possibility
Valve made the eInk Steam Machine faceplate open source to see what the community could do. We're already seeing results.

Issued a new SRW4 beta to testers with a few more fixes. Getting close, I think -- there haven't been many new tickets, and the issues are getting smaller or more esoteric; just fixed a race condition with Getter 2's Mach Special dodge popup that appears even in the JP version of the game.
Protip: If you're going to spam my email with "Your take on living in Seattle", you can hide the fact that you're trying to scam me by simply recognizing that Seattle is in Washington State, not Washington DC.
GREG DAVIES: seems like a kind of a shit task. Everyone just seems like they're going home normally. ALEX HORNE: well before you say that let's have a look at how Odysseus did. cut to panel of AJAX, MENELAUS, AGAMEMNON, and DIOMEDES who are all staring at ODYSSEUS with his head in his hands
Small update on the Megadrive *rally game* ? I added sprites and did some optimization so CPU is still at 70% usage with a stable 60 fps. I'm a bit disappointed by the sprite width limit per-line. I wanted a lot more dense vegetation but it's not possible with sprites. I'll try other methods.
This is Winnie. He got so excited that he briefly forgot how to be a dog. You can laugh, but he'd like to point out you look this ridiculous all the time. 13/10 (TT: brisbreaks)

What on EARTH is going on with this outfit?! XD
A hidden terribleness about the AI translations of older games that keep popping up lately - in this case Tricolor Crise for the Dreamcast - is the way they knock the wind out of the sails of the people who are trying to actually do it properly. LLM version didn't even use the right character names.
I have been working on this game with a real proper translation for quite some time now. This whole thing has just been a slap to my face for all the time and effort I've put into making something great for this great game. This person gives zero F's about this game; they just chose it because.
"human slop" gave me a good chuckle. Dude, loc isn't some secret society where only those know the secret handshake and survive the ritual hazing get to put it on their resume. If you put in the time to learn your position and help put out a thing in a new language, congrats, you're a localizer!
There's a trend building for 'functional completion' releases as they're now being termed to just be thrown out there as a rough draft with the usual calls for human translators to refine it. But those functional completionists still want their names on the games - a race for first. (2/3
