New Guardian article links to “landmark study” on babies & screentime. URL goes to advocacy foundation that financed study. On their website I find a self hosted 110page “report” but no paper. Would love to understand if this is peer-reviewed, published research or advocacy piece.

9. Here's a surprise: controlling for the other covariates (correct me if I have that wrong, Kyle), we see the *most* LLM use in the high impact journals, not low impact journals.

The latest Roy Morgan poll does look like an outlier for Labour, about 15% below the trendline, and also from Roy Morgan's last poll. We won't really have a better sense until we've had another couple of polls though. #nzpol

There are many reasons to hate Teams, but it is particularly frustrating that copying and pasting between Teams and other Micro$oft programmes is often super weird...

There is no other explanation.

Thread on troubles with teaching evaluations. I’ll add simply that the peer-reviewed literature is quite clear that they are biased instruments also. Universities need better metrics, if they want to use metrics.

Sighs - I am reading my student evaluation* of instruction. One student doesn't like how I set up the course and writes a whole essay about requiring rubrics from me. I provided rubrics, in 3 places, and spent class time - twice - on the rubric. And this reminds me why I really dislike the SEI.

Perhaps we are at the point where universities should be making themselves much less dependent on microsoft.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I do think life cycle assessment of e-bikes is very important and understanding what trips they replace is important. That's how we can accurately understand their environmental benefits and how they fit in the overall picture.

Another for instance! Down in Queensland, Australia, fossil gas used to provide all the peak power. Then batteries start nibbling at it. Then chomping on it. And now they've basically eaten it all up. No more gas. Look at this graphic! Glorious. reneweconomy.com.au/big-batterie...

Sometimes co-authors ask me “did you see what they cited us for???” and of course I didn’t, because if you want to keep faith in humanity, you don’t look up what people cite you for, just like you don’t read comment sections.
