Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks. I think I've overfilled my freezer. Had to chuck about half of what was in there, because half of it is like a Krynoid buried in the permafrost and the other half is barely refrigerated. I think I put so much in that the air couldn't circulate. Bugger.

Don't worry too much about it. There have been over 1,200 editions of Escape to the Country. I have yet to see a single one where anyone bought any of the houses.

Has the Weights and Measures Act been repealed, or are supermarkets just powerful enough to be above it? Bought some chicken (650g pack) and, portioning it up, I see I'm a full 50g short. I've noticed this many times when portioning grated cheese - 250g packs are almost always at least 20g short.

Incredible how little attention this has got. Masked men come to Dover in a planned action and block our nation's busiest port. None were detained. Good job they weren't pensioners holding signs about Palestine or climate change activists or they'd be in court by now! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Disruption at Port of Dover due to 'stop the boats' protest

The government says it condemns "the behaviour in Dover" and the hours-long disruption it caused.

Just want to point out if people had been beaten up at the Green or SNP party conference and their leader had cheered it on. It wouldn't just have been on TV, it would have been on TV non-stop until the election. But for Reform, it barely got mentioned.

You know something that really irritates me when I think back to all the Brexit debates and eventual deal negotiations? The discussions were *dominated* by talk of fishing and farming. Fishing accounts for 0.1% of UK employment. Agriculture represents 1.3%. Yet it's all they ever spoke about.

Another Day, another scandal that's "bound to bring down Nigel Farage". Is nobody paying attention? His supporters don't *care* that he's dodgy as fuck. It's not a bug. It's a feature. It was exactly the same with BoJo. Years of "He can't possibly survive *this* scandal!"

Just watched the first episode of Going Straight for the first time in about 30 years. An absolute masterclass in drunk acting from Ronnie Barker and, even moreso, Fulton Mackay. Not hugely funny, but an exceptional character piece that shows us how *both* of them are institutionalised.

I could do what Gordon Ramsay does. I can arrive at terrible restaurants, be baffled by idiotic staff and owners, identity obvious problems (literally *always* menus with too many dishes, poorly maintained kitchen equipment, and a stockroom full of out of date sludge).

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

“In Dallas for the premier of '9 to 5', I had an uncanny experience, and on the plane home to Chicago I confessed it to Siskel: I had been granted a private half hour with Dolly Parton, and as we spoke I was filled with a strange ethereal grace. This was not spiritual, nor was it sexual. It was healing and comforting. Gene listened and said, "Roger, I felt the exact same thing during my interview with her." We looked at each other. What did this mean? Neither one of us ever felt that feeling again. From time to time we would refer to it in wonder.”

RIP Dolly Parton. I wasn't a fan of her music (with a couple of exceptions) but she was undoubtedly a fantastic, generous, kind person who leaves the world better than she found it, for those whose lives she touched.

dolly parton taught millions of children to read dolly parton raised millions of dollars for cancer research and disaster relief dolly parton stood by the lgbtq community her entire life dolly parton personally helped fund the moderna vaccine if there was a right side of something she was on it

Your semi-regular reminder that I've been aware of global warming and its existential threat since I was *8*. It's *a long time* since I was 8, yet politicians across the globe *still* pretend it's up for debate, because they're being paid *a lot* of money to allow industry to carry on destroying.

I believe Clacton deserves an MP who will spend their time shining a light on everything the area has to offer. And why wait till I'm elected? I've been to visit one of the constituency's most stunning landmarks.

All this media coverage about Count Binface in Clacton is just a pathetic precursor to "our" right wing media presenting Nigel Farage's basically unopposed "victory" as a tremendous victory for Reform, instead of the colossal waste of money (created by Farage) that it actually is.

Quarter of a million people now fleeing out of control wildfires in France and Spain, and it is still acceptable for leaders of apparently mainstream political parties (Badenoch, Trump, Farage) to deny climate science, cheered on by the Murdoch press.

I don't understand why Argentina play like this. They didn't start playing football against England until they went behind in the 67th minute, and got 2 goals from playing football instead of wrestling. They didn't even start playing tonight until extra time. BTW - that first goal should stand.
