If you’re an academic who wants to write for a popular audience, you need to be able to explain what your book is about and why it matters in 3 sentences. I know this goes against all of your training. If you can’t or don’t want to do this, writing for “the public” is not right for you right now.

Am I being over-sensitive here or does the term “side effects” have an inherent negative connotation and therefore this headline is sci-comm malpractice? The “side effects” are reduced risk of serious cardiac complications and reduced risk of all-cause cardiac events. Benefits. That’s the word.
