An assortment of ferns from the Late Cretaceous of North America, as described by Holian et al. 2026. Specimens come from the Denver, Hell Creek and lower Raton Formations. I only included those found in the Cretaceous (and excluded a couple I deemed not worth illustrating.)

Apollo 14 launched on Jan 31st, 1971 containing about 500 tree seeds (and also 3 human astronauts, for ballast, one presumes). These tree seeds were bold pioneers: Earthling visitors to our nearest neighbor in space. They returned to Earth & were planted across the country. MOON TREES!

Finally, my first publication is out! We describe an exceptionally preserved new species of Metzgeriaceae liverwort from the Lower Cretaceous and reveal new insights into its growth mode and autoecology as an inhabitant of the subtropical wetlands of Las Hoyas.
