I think the most willfully ignorant talking points I continue to see are "Renters don't invest in their community" and all "Homeless people are drug addicts". Its willfully ignorant and should be called out every time for what it is, ignorance that is willfully spread to cause harm.

Don't you love it when people make assumptions and never have an answer to policy decisions made by the city that cause harm? I DO 🥰 Oakland has an obligation to all of its people, including homeless ones. Forcing people to move without notice is not care. People need homes.

So you want people with obvious substance abuse and mental health issues living is squaller within a stone’s throw of a recently renovated children’s plays structure? Oakland has to take care of its children and its parks.

I live in Downtown Oakland and regularly run/bike past Snow Park. The city, it seems without any announcements are clearing homeless people from the park. Moving encampments around solves nothing, people need housing. Its really disappointing to see because where are they supposed to go?
