Just one more example @bikeleague.org of how great the Capitol Corridor trains are that the Amtrak report metrics don't consider: They will let you on board even if your bike doesn't fit in the rack or the racks are full! Capitol Corridor even sells bungees in the cafe car to assist riders w this!

Using the report’s metric, Capitol Corridor would score *better* if they closed all 13 of their non-staffed stations AND if they added a completely unnecessary baggage car to offer a checked bike option that would impose a lot of cost for no benefit.

Thank you Oakland DOT for painting speed limit markings on the pavement at 7th St & on Broadway around the speed cameras, per my suggestion. The purpose of the camera program is to slow drivers, not to write tickets. So this helps make the 20 mph limit much more visible & hopefully help calm speeds

Wow this report is so bad. It basically says that having an option to check your bike is better than providing ample roll-on storage. It says that requiring bike reservations available is better than no reservation. It also doesn't deduct points for roll-on storage that doubles as luggage racks.

When I managed the East Bay's bike ed program Lyft was required to sponsor some classes. I had to force them to allow us to do multi-lingual English/Spanish & fund adult learn-to-ride sessions not only cheaper 1-hr webinars. I also demanded that we only reference the Bay Wheels branding not "Lyft".

What is it about so many Bay Area “resistance” progressives, which results in them not questioning why many of their transportation & land use positions are in alignment w their nemeses at the federal level?

I think about this every time I hear from a US traffic engineer about why they can’t implement a bikeway upgrade, citing the importance of adherence to standards. Standards that result in these outcomes *should* be questioned.

Shocking.

Here in Oakland someone tried the same thing & nothing happened for months. Eventually I reported the issue in the 311 app & public works crews fixed the pothole w/in a week. City staff aren’t driving around looking for 🍆s, getting offended & expediting repairs. Official reports are what matters.
