After years of participating in sowing dissent, Mr. Kenney has spent the past year performing what you might call the Captain Renault move: He is shocked, shocked to find separatism flourishing in the gambling house he helped sustain. www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...

Opinion: Jason Kenney is trying to stop the separatists. But he deserves some blame for their rise in the first place

As premier, he gave vent to some of the grievances that now animate the movement

Lougheed also helped create Kananaskis Country as a series of provincial parks for us to enjoy for free. The UCP now charge usage fees. In '76 he protected the Eastern Slopes from coal mining. The UCP gave it to foreign interests to mine. I suspect Premier Lougheed would be no fan of the UCP.

In 1974, the government of Peter Lougheed declared the first Monday in August to be Heritage Day, an official holiday to celebrate multiculturalism and our heritage roots. #Alberta #ableg #abpoli

Senator Whitehouse said it better than anyone: "Climate risk makes things un-insurable. No insurance makes things un-mortgageable. No mortgages crashes the property markets. Crashed property markets trash the economy.” #wildfire #Spokane #insurance

The Great Climate Insurance Collapse is beginning before our eyes. How does it happen? Gradually, and then all at once. Buckle up. subscriber.politicopro.com/article/eene...

Rep. Max Miller’s repeated abuse of my daughter and granddaughter makes him unfit for public office. Thank you for your patience as I awaited results from the focus group before releasing this statement. by Sen. Bernie Moreno

NEW: Corb Lund officially files a judicial review challenging the Chief Electoral Officer’s decision to deem the Water Not Coal Citizens’ Initiative unsuccessful. The reasons? He argues the decision was unreasonable, procedurally unfair, and inconsistent with purpose of Citizen Initiative Act.

Behold, a steaming pile of self-serving dung from a recent Globe and Mail op-ed by two business leaders. Reality: the province is suffocating clean energy, no business has “stepped up” to build or fill the pipeline, and oil companies are minting massive profits for themselves, not the federation.

"Free traffic" deliberately misses the point. The point of the Act was that Google and Meta have co-opted the ad tech market and siphoned the bulk of advertising revenues that used to go to news publishers, which is why they were being told to pay as compensation for their uncompetitive actions.

Scoop: The Liberal government is sitting on a proposal from Meta that could restore news to Facebook and Instagram in Canada. But Playbook has learned the offer is now caught up in broader Canada-U.S. trade negotiations. www.politico.com/newsletters/...

File this under scaling new heights of hypocrisy, Ric McIver encouraging people to get a mail in ballot. He was the minister who eliminated tabulators and tightened voter ID rules based on no evidence. The long line ups, and astronomical cost of the referendum to taxpayers are on him.

Legislative Assemby Speaker and Calgary-Hays UCP MLA Ric McIver is one of the few conservative politicians I’ve noticed who is encouraging Albertans to apply for a mail in ballot to avoid any long lines on October 19. Along with a link to the Elections Alberta website, McIver posted his plea on LinkedIn:

That is where I will get my mail in ballot to vote to keep Alberta in Canada.
You should too. All eligible voters can use the mail in ballot so do it now.
Remember, the vast majority of Alberta people want to remain in Canada.
So, the only way to lose is to not vote.

Do not do that.

Even after writing about Alberta politics for more than 20 years it’s still sometimes hard to fully understand and explain what is happening in our province. 🙃😬

This idiot has probably never been to the BOREAL FOREST a day in his life. It is 5.5 times the size of Texas. You cannot "groom" it. It's burning because of climate change. The utter bullshit from these climate deniers. Canadians are sick of this bullying and they are not going to take it.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 2w ago

Rep. Jeff Van Drew: "Canada isn't working because they are so far left. This should be a warning shot to them. You better come to America, say, 'We're sorry, we're gonna mend our ways and do what we used to do and groom and maintain the forest.'"
