Let’s be clear. Labour’s line on immigration is that immigrants are a bad thing, to be tolerated in the minimum number necessary for the NHS, the economy and so forth, but basically and essentially bad. There’s no other logical reason possible for Mahmood’s approach, endorsed by Burnham.
