When we talk about the pervasiveness of sexual violence perpetrated by men, we're constantly shouted down that it's not a problem, everyone knows rape is wrong, it's just a few Not Real Men with frequent flyer miles. When there are receipts, we must center precision to excuse men.

Also telling that with each revelation of rape group chats of tens of thousands, or rape sites with millions, we're met with handwringing about women's "misandry" & "extremist" views & centering some alleged harm women are doing to deflect from the piling receipts of men's abuse.

This is the third op-ed I've seen this week, where some fuckwit pearl-clutches about how women are worse than the manosphere. Where was all this animosity and outrage at the increasing radicalisation of men? At the discovery of massive social networks where they encourage each other to rape?

When I hear people voice this defense of rape unthinkingly I always feel that they mean exactly what they say - why would she (be doing some kind of normal activity)? Rape is intended as punishment/ terror for leading a normal, public facing life - these questions bind and reinforce that that logic

It’s infuriating when a woman comes forward about a man raping her in his hotel room after drinking and the response is “Why would she go to his room?” “Why would she drink with him?” This is Mike Pence logic. Women should be allowed to hang out with men without expecting they will be raped.

I voted for Hillary in the 2008 primary also in 2016. I voted for Kamala in 2024. Even though I know how misogynistic American males are. I don't care if Mother Theresa comes down from heaven and runs in 2028 a woman won't win. I wish it were not true, but it is.

A question you have to ask yourself if you’re going to approach politics as a responsible adult is whether your goal is to improve material conditions and achieve changes that reduce human suffering, or whether it is to look really cool in front of your friends online.These are not compatible aims.
