If this outbreak was happening in a European country, or the USA, there is no way a discussion on trialing Ervebo for possible benefit would be delayed until OCTOBER. That's just the *discussion* about possibly, maybe, doing trials! Thousands more people will die in that time.

The recorded death toll from the Ebola outbreak in the DRC is about to cross 1,000 cases. In reality there have likely been a lot more deaths already. Many new cases appear to have no link to known cases, suggesting much of the spread is still happening in the dark.
This is the most basic stuff. For anyone to be asking it is concerning. For someone who seemingly seeks to be Prime Minister, it is deeply concerning. What we know is that a man has been charged with the murder of Anne Widdicombe, and a trial has been provisionally set for June 2027. /1

I also think the BBC has become fundamentally less sure of what it is there to do, meaning it relies on talent more. Is it there to entertain, inform, simply report, or is it (as they seem to have picked) a messy mix of all three where nothing is done well and everyone comes away a bit miffed.
I'm doing my semi-annual rewatching of The Expanse, and Season 3 is still the best, though I don't think I will ever forgive Elizabeth Mitchell (Anna Volovodov) for having such amazing hair

According to @echinoblog.bsky.social this urchin speed-walks along the sea bottom with spines that are modified with little "shoes." #Doldrums
