Iran war advocates got exactly what they wanted. It just didn't work out how they imagined. For years, the argument for the US attacking Iran was that the regime was brittle, on the verge of collapse, and bombing would put them over the edge. That assumption was core to the case against JCPOA too.

I guess I'm making a leopards-eating-faces/first-they-came-for argument here but: THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY. If you live in certain areas (SC, OK, TX, others) you've probably already seen ads advocating for prosecuting abortion as homicide. We are maybe a year or two away from seeing 'em nationally.

the anti-abortion movement is already and always a transphobic movement, they are some of the most virulently anti-trans lobbyists you will find anywhere in US politics. the movements are intertwined already and terribly, violently rabid about their transphobia

this faction is gaining power FAST among the mainstream "pro-life" anti-abortion movement and are moving hard to push the regular-ass nasty anti-abortion GOP to endorse "equal protection" bills that would criminalize abortion under homicide statutes, for people who have abortions

for ~15 years, the pro-prosecution anti-abortion faction (they call themselves "abolitionists") has been chomping as hard as they can to prosecute people who have abortions with murder, explicitly because they believe "women" are naturally, selfishly murderous towards our children

I'm going to say a related thing to this thing, not a "this thing I'm saying is more important than this" thing: I'm not sure a lot of folks understand (1) how absolutely the fuck foul this advertising is and (2) how close we are to seeing ads like this about criminalizing people who have abortions

I thought the gas he stole from Venezuela was going to lower our gas prices. Instead Trump pocketed the Billions and hid the rest. He was planning to do the same in Iran but they did not play nice.

Apparently it is of no concern to any Republicans that Trump and Bessent are taking in billions of dollars from plundered Venezuelan oil and nobody knows where the money is, where is has been going, if anyone is getting proceeds, with no accounting of any of it made available.

So when people ask me this question, my answer is that the best resource is your pediatrician. Fortunately the vast majority of Americans still rate their child’s doctor’s office as a source of vaccine information that they trust. Shout out to pediatric healthcare workers. It cannot be easy rn.

All of this tends to direct your online search toward anti-vax sites, and more and more people are peeled off from common sense and scientific evidence. If you trust you pediatrician with the health and life of your baby, except for on the topic of vaccines, you need to probe this.

1. Anti-vax websites and influencers oversimplify complicated information. They ignore data that undermine their argument. Scientists are trained not to do this. 2. They make appeals to emotion, which humans find more compelling than facts. 3. They are not constrained by accurate information.

There was a person recently asking for resources to learn about vaccines, which she had skipped at her infant’s two-month visit. Unfortunately, she will very likely end up googling and finding anti-vaccine misinformation that seems compelling. Why do anti-vax sites tend to win when you google?
