The thing about chronic pain is you get very blasé about it (pain is a companion, etc) even when it’s debilitating. But *then* a whole new kind of pain will spring up from something and just completely BODY you. (I am not enjoying whatever is going on with my shoulder this week.)

One of the reasons I love The Princess Bride (the film) is that it gets marital law right - most people believe you interrupt a wedding at the “just impediment” bit, but unless your impediment is legal, that’s just a stalling tactic.
