If we care about disability justice, one of the lowest-hanging fruits is masks in healthcare. It remains unacceptable that vulnerable patients must ask, sometimes beg, healthcare workers to mask, while also explaining to them why respirator masks are better
here's a fun lil exercise for cis people: how many articles would a publication have to print calling for your extermination before you would expect people who care about you to stop giving them money? and how would you feel if their excuse for still supporting them is some fuckass crossword puzzle?
every doctor's appointment is either 3 months from now or the ER
Went to get groceries (N95 outside, yes yes) and I could see about 5 blocks away and beyond that was white haze
Was looking up why Amazon is now hiding exact purchases in email all the sudden (saying you ordered "a book" and not which one) and theory is it's because your emails are being scanned by respective email client (Google using them to train Gemini, serve ads), and Amazon wants to solely own that data
Congratulations to @hazelzorn.bsky.social! Her book REEF MIND, published by @tenebrouspress.bsky.social, is a semifinalist in the horror category for the 2026 Small Spec Book Awards. #SSBA #SSBA2026
Hey PDX we're about to have a Smoke Week, and AQI forecasts vary between 170 and 500 (2020 levels, remember that?) Get your air purifiers, seal up your windows, and cancel outdoor activities. You don't want to breathe this stuff in.
Man we are going to have a heat wave + smoke week, I just know it
we had an entire ICU team that was dedicated to flipping patients onto their bellies to give them a last shot at oxygenating before their inevitable deaths, but ok
RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>
Local Indian place let me order off-menu and made me butter chickpeas 😋
did you know that creative writing is a purely optional hobby
#OldTrailsFire in Spokane now appears to be most destructive wildfire in WA State history by wide margin (650+ structures lost), w/additional TBD losses nearby. Other PacNW fires actively burning, though less destructive, are far larger & could burn for weeks amid severe drought.
I love this pre-fall weather I LOVE IT It is restoring my will to live The sun is out and I'm wearing jeans ahhhh
Things I and friends have done to calm an angry abusive man from further escalating and killing us or our children: -Smiled -Kept normal schedules in order not to trigger a fight -Appeased with kind acts (cooking, cleaning, favors) -Forced friendly tones and words
Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"
I don’t say this lightly or hardly ever but this is triggering.

I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them
Notetaking in meetings is tiny case in point - used to be some predictable social assumptions who would do it; now anyone can offer to do ”notetaking” by turning on the AI listener. Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary
