Apropo of nothing: I'm increasingly concerned about the way folks wield the idea of "privilege" in such a way that very much fails to differentiate between "special advantage" and "basic human right." Like "your generational wealth, rooted in whiteness, gives you contacts" ≠ "your right to safety."

deeply annoying that creative breakthroughs don’t come on schedule from direct work but from things like “open-ended conversations with interesting people” and “doing nothing”

I need new books and authors! Current vibe is cozy-ish, with elements of romance. It could be a full romance, but doesn't have to be. Very open on setting: contemporary, historical, fantasy, and sci-fi are all fine, and zero-spice to full-smut are all welcome. Would love a series of standalones!

There's a driving force in our neurodiversity movement that works to simply include "acceptable" neurodivergencies, like ADHD and Autism, in our existing neurotypical societal power constructs, rather than building a true neurodiverse framework that would include the dangerous, messy, unacceptable.

I've been nicknamed "thera-parent" by one of the neighborhood kids because I mediated a dispute about someone feeling left out in a way that apparently sounded like I'm a therapist—to which I responded with a somewhat baffled, "this is just what a parent does?" Hence, I'm a thera-parent I guess???

A happy Saturday night specifically to the folks in my neighborhood that are having a big campfire the perfect distance away from my place, so I get the perfect amount of that beautiful campfire smell while laying on my hammock. I got perfect ambiance without having to chop my own firewood. 500/10

I can say with complete certainty that my therapist went home today, sat on her couch, thought about our session, and went "um what? Did not see that coming, what a weird and abnormal side effect of a very common therapy tool, not on my bingo sheet" Clearly I'm WINNING therapy. Obviously nailed it.

I'm on the phone with my 87YO cult-raised grandma, who tells me how she called the phone line to do the census. The meandering tale gets to her being asked "if I'm a man or a woman." It is 30% rant, 50% confusion, and 20% octogenarian "kids these days". I'm searching for a way to gently guide her—

I'll say more when I can focus a bit, but for now ... While I'd love to stay in games, I'm also open to editor positions elsewhere in the publishing world. Fiction would be lovely. Before joining the games industry, I spent a decade and a half in higher ed roles that inform my work today.

Some neighborhood kids saw me in the yard with crutches the other day, and then walking without them in my kitchen today. And honestly, explaining dynamic disability to kids is one of my favorite things. Those kinds of questions from kids are important. Understanding those concepts early matters.

Hear me out: mint instead of grass. Yes, mint spreads like wildfire and is hard to kill—which is WHY I should allow the mint that escaped my gardens to grow wherever it wants. Also, because it is so hardy, it needs less water than my grass anyways. So we're agreed? Spearmint and peppermint lawns?!

I don't know if it's a roast or a toast, but I feel Some Kind of Way™️ about Facebook memories showing me a post from well over a decade where my recently uncovered rare mental health disorder is absolutely sitting center stage, hiding in plain sight, and with the benefit of hindsight it's so obvious

Five stars to the sun shining so bright but ZERO stars to the 100 km/hr winds currently causing havoc outside and to my head. (Also every time it gets this windy, I ALWAYS think about "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day"—one of the 12 VHS tapes that supplemented our 4 farmer vision TV channels.)
