I've reached one of those sticky spots in my novel that I've never known quite what to do with. Gotta get my characters from one place to another in a way that feels realistic but doesn't take up too much page space (this book is long enough already). I can do this! #WriteSky #WritingCommunity

Along with all the other problems surrounding AI's infiltration into writing and publishing--including the difficulty of detection and the lack of disclosure--I think we're in for a period of AI panic where writers will increasingly be baselessly accused (see? I just used em dashes)

Interesting post on Ask a Manager about a writer who is afraid of being accused of using AI when they don't use LLMs. Instead, their writing is edited. However, as the writer says, "The problem with heavily edited writing is that lots of readers now suspect or assume the content is AI-generated." 1/

“Use AI to brainstorm but not to write.” “Use AI to help you outline but not to write.” These are commonly proposed as “ethical” ways for undergrad students to use AI, but I’m sorry, brainstorming & outlining are just as integral to writing as the actual construction of sentences.

Sad to hear of John Flanagan's passing. I'm deeply fond of the Ranger's Apprentice series, which really scratched that itch for sneaky, hooded archers. The books have humor and heart and are just a lot of fun to read, and I so adore the characters. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Flanagan ❤️

#Febchantment day 27 I'm excited to create stories in a world where everyone has magic of some kind. It's not limited to certain people, you don't have to go to school to learn it, and there are no tools required to use it. Everyone just has it innately. It's a fun system to play around with.

#Febchantment day 26 I'll define strength as a user's proficiency and familiarity with their magic. Strongest: Solan, a player with unnatural magic who can create illusions. Weakest: Probably most of Keria's Tribe friends, since they don't use their magic (or at least claim not to).
