Happy to share that I've (re)joined @aleininger.bsky.social at @uni-hamburg.de as a postdoc! I'll continue my research on party organizations, building on my dissertation @princeton.edu. My first dissertation spin-off examines how far-right parties tap into rural communities. 1/5
‘Polarization’ has become the master concept for diagnosing our current democratic crisis. But this is not polarization. It is the radicalization of the political right. By misdiagnosing it, we risk becoming complicit in the crisis. 🧵 Just out in Perspectives on Politics doi.org/10.1017/S153...
I couldn’t have asked for a better gift upon my return from Europe than holding my book for the first time! “Grassroots Women in the Populist Radical Right” is now out in the physical world 💗

Quick break from ECPG to say that "Youth Wings of the Populist Radical Right" is now out 🥳 We hope that this book (& mine) can pave the way for more research on the 'inside' of PRR parties. Understanding how they organise & mobilise is crucial to explaining their growing popularity & legitimacy.

Why Pauline Hanson appeals to women - ABC listen
Right leaning parties are often seen as "men's parties" - parties with either a male-dominated membership or because of their perception of stereotypically masculine political attitudes.

New article accepted! Do youth wings produce the party members parties hope for? Using data from 5,000+ members in 12 youth wings across 6 countries, we show that active members are more ideologically aligned and engaged than passive ones – but longer membership is linked to lower ambition.
I had a lot of fun last night speaking at a panel discussion on lowering the voting age in Australia, organised by ASPG-Q and hosted by the Queensland Parliament. Thanks to the public for their engaging and thought-provoking questions - it was great to see a full house for this important topic!
