Not for nothing, but Abu Ghraib was a breaking point for a lot of conservative Christians who decided the answer to WWJD? was not “torture his enemies.” They left the church & the GOP. I’m sure a few live-streamed executions will bring them right back.

Really seems like Maine Dems could benefit from using a version of the 2008 message for voters who liked the maverick McCain: “She’s a decent person. It made sense for you to back her in the past. But it’s not good enough now. She enables Trump when it matters—and none of us can afford that.”

Want something new to worry about? Happy to oblige. For some people, COVID reactivates the Epstein-Barr Virus, known for triggering such hits as MS, lupus & mono. So if you had mono as a kid & then got COVID decades later, you might end up w/ mono that lasts 4yrs & counting. Ask me how I know.

Ordered a big batch of old TIME issues off eBay so I could read my own work again. The digital age is something. Everything lives forever on the internet but also :: Error—no records found ::

There’s no shame in having backed Platner in the beginning. Or even waiting to hear his response to early allegations. But if you were still backing him a few days ago, you need more progressive women in your circle. He set off our ick meter a while ago. Oh, and we believe women.

Going to make my children sit down with me and watch both Barack and Michelle Obama’s speeches. Hope is not the same thing as delusion. Rebuke is not whining. We’re in the midst of a long haul. Enjoy the palate cleansers when you can.

Yes, yes, the encyclical is fascinating and there’s much to discuss. But I’m still stuck on the part where the actual Pope reads his encyclical and he sounds like the guys scalping tickets outside Wrigley.

interestingly under callais the only black lawmakers who could escape constitutional scrutiny are those elected by white voters, which is a pretty clear statement of who gets to be a legitimate political actor

Mamdani has demonstrated something that Democrats have largely forgotten. You can't just do good things for voters and expect to be rewarded for it. You have to tell them about it, over and over again. You have to advertise your work in office just as much as you did on the campaign to win it.

When we took office, NYC had a $12B deficit. Today it’s zero. And we didn’t close that gap on the backs of working people. We closed it while funding parks, libraries, safer streets, & public housing. Call it Pothole Politics or Democratic Socialism: We are government that delivers for the people.

As I told some people on the Hill recently, Trump is writing the Dems’ ads for them. He’s at -50 on handling prices, and 50% of persuadable voters say the economy/prices is their top issue, and they trust Dems by 10 on it (will likely increase with new data). This is a huge easy W for Dems

Trump on Iran War: Reporter: What extent are Americans’ financial situation motivating you to make a deal? Trump: Not even a little bit. I don't think about Americans’ financial situation

Dems are still favored to win the House. But we can't ignore or downplay how Republicans essentially won 10 seats IN A WEEK through gerrymandering, lawsuits, and judicial rulings. This isn't the kind of democracy we should be comfortable with. newrepublic.com/article/2102...

The Week Where Republicans May Have Stolen the Midterms

In five days last week, Republicans gained maybe 10 seats in Congress. And not a single citizen voted.
