This may be true of others but I actually got express permission from the trans community to keep NYT games and recipes. I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.

Squishiness on trans rights is a dealbreaker for me because (a) it’s a straightforward issue of personal freedom and bodily autonomy much like abortion, and (b) the right is obviously coming after us cis gays next.

Saka says the bill "goes too far and I cannot support it." Noting that some people pointed out it's easy to pay a small fee and delay housing, he says that if the bill was about "fee reform," he'd support it. i don't even know what that would mean—"reform" as in making fees more expensive?

CM Dionne Foster notes that this came up four times in committee, and yet Saka just proposed his amendment essentially invalidating LIn's legislation yesterday.

Seattle Fire and Police are currently responding to a mass shooting at the Seattle Center with at least six gunshot victims.

WOW. New announcement from Seattle CMs Strauss, Hollingsworth, and Foster saying they will fund universal school meals starting in the fall after all by using the general fund. Hard to see this as anything but a realization of the high political price they paid for their votes yesterday.

Just wrote a very unfriendly email to CM Foster, whom I gladly supported in the election, expressing my dumbfounded disappointment that she had to find a way to vote against universal school meals for Seattle's kids. I'm not even a parent, nor do I intend to be, and I can see the goodness in that.

Both Joy Hollingsworth and Dionne Foster, the sponsors, objected to the "narrative" that their program is "means-tested,' but that is literally the definition of cutting off access based on income and requiring parents to prove their income in order to qualify. "Universal" is the opposite.
