Abbas Alawieh has won the primary for State Senate District 2. Out of Abbas, Rep. Tlaib’s younger sister Layla Elabad, & Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud of the Uncommitted Movement, only Abbas voted for Kamala Harris. He was also among the reported activists she met with in late June.

Abdul El-Sayed has won, NBC News says. And there are other wins for the left in Michigan: —William Lawrence wins his U.S. House primary. —A DSA-backed candidate is leading a Democratic incumbent for state House. —Abbas Alawieh, co-founder of Uncommitted, leads for state Senate.

Progressives didn’t get the big election night they wanted

Independent media used to feel like independent media. Now it seems like every mainstream person has taken over spaces that used to be for independent journalists, and doing it with far bigger budgets.

Sometimes I wake up to the news of Ukraine being bombed and it still doesn't feel real. It still feels like February 2022 while the world acts like they've moved on.

In addition to having no experience in immigration, their website shows Ilya Shapiro (!) and disgraced former law prof Joshua Wright (!) as Senior Counsel. I don't think this massive contract was awarded to give immigrant children effective, zealous advocacy. burkegroup.law/our-team/

Enten: The best polling Texas Dems have had in a Senate race this century. Talarico's chances are very real. He's polling ~10 pts better than O'Rourke (2018) was at this point. Paxton's net favorable is ~15 pts lower than Cruz was (2018). Trump's much less popular than in 2018.
