I had such a great time recording this episode with Christian! Excellent production and storytelling in Formative Media so I hope you check it out. Anyone else watch Channel One too?? 👀

Newest episode of my new podcast, Formative Media, came out today! Andrea Rene (@andrearene.bsky.social) joins me for a fascinating conversation about Channel One News and her inspiration for getting into broadcast journalism. Find it a FormativeMediaShow.com or wherever you get your podcasts.

I’ve been absent from social media because the world has been an overwhelming place. Don’t take my silence as commentary, but instead as compartmentalizing to maintain levels of anxiety. But more importantly to continue parenting my daughter when I have no good answers to the mountain of “WHY??”

Wake up. Make breakfast. Do email. Watch a murder. Go to a party for a 5 year old. Laugh with my daughter. See a different angle of that murder. Hear govt officials slander the victim. Play Barbies with my kid. Feed her dinner. Tear up at that victim reading last honors to a vet. Put kid to bed. USA

Alright nerdy PC video editor friendos, I need some help. Premiere is frequently locking up on me making it hard to work. I think it’s time for a GPU and RAM upgrade. I’ve got a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, but which GPU should I get and how much RAM? I’m deep diving into PC subreddits and recs are all over.

It was a nail biter last night but so happy the Vikings pulled out a win!! JJ unsurprisingly showed that yes, he’s a rookie, but hopefully will get more confident each game. Sorry not sorry Bears 😂🐻🚫🏈 #SKOL

Fire season is ramping up here in California but the Watch Duty app really makes it seem like the whole West Coast is ablaze 🔥😰 (of course it’s not, the U.S. is just geographically very large)

Trump’s unnecessary and totally political deployment of the military is costing taxpayers $134 million. Even LA’s formerly Republican District Attorney said today local law enforcement resources were adequate to meet the needs of the protests.

Let me be crystal clear: I was very close to the protests happening in DTLA: they are *NOT* riots. There were some agitators yes, but the aftermath of a Lakers/Kings championship is more destructive than this. (But it will surely escalate if more troops get involved.)
