I have mixed feelings about Graydon Creed, the leader of the extremist anti-mutant hate group in X-Men '97. The original animated series already revealed that, despite his bigotry, his parents were mutants. But the way that the new show explores the psychology of that is both great and troubling.

Punisher s1 & s2 were a mixed bag. They matter in vague, minor ways to One Last Kill, and hardly matter at all for BND. 👌 Jessica Jones s2 & s3 were a rough watch, and if anything, detract from the version of Jessica we get in Born Again. 👎

Well, the new Spider-Man movie is in the books, so it's time for the final tally of my big Marvel Defenders-verse catch up: Daredevil s3 was the show's best season and critical for appreciating Born Again, even if neither show mattered for Brand New Day. 👍

I'm latecomer to Doctor Who, so imagine my surprise when The Doctor rigged up the TARDIS's new "Time-Space Visualiser", and I discovered that the series had done "Interdimensional Cable" nearly half a century before Rick and Morty did!

Sullivan's Travels is one of those movies where I like the ideas that the film is playing with better than the film itself. That said, it has a few fantastic scenes (ironically, the ones that offer an unflinching look at lives of struggle in the 1940s), and Veronica Lake steals the show.

I fell down a rabbit hole and discovered a 1964 movie called 'The Fall of the Roman Empire' that should be billed as "a film so disastrous that eventually the Supreme Court had to weigh in."

I'll admit it's a little odd draw a line between The Music Man and The Royal Tenenbaums, but revisitng them made me realize that one of my favorite little story shapes is the conman who pretends to be decent and caring for the grift, only to realize, against all odds, that it's what he really wants.

I'm trying to think of how best to describe the level of "Wow! That should not have happened!" that's going on here. It's the diarrhea version of Omar, after a long & rugged career of successfully robbing drug dealers, getting one-shotted by a 6-year-old at the corner store.

I have zero proof that Andrew Lloyd Webber ever watched a single second of Doctor Who. But man, with the way these anthropomorphic bee guys from an early episode of the BBC series look, sound, and act, I could swear they were a precursor to the musical felines from CATS.
