Food, wine, travel, wonder, justice, hint of random. Best hairstyle on Bluesky.
Probably my favorite chapter of The Martian Chronicles.
"Today is August 4, 2026." Can't find my copy of The Martian Chronicles to take a photo of the actual published story, but it remains a collection well worth reading 76 years later: bookshop.org/a/862/9781668094853 #books #writing
Good lord I wish some of you could read on this text based social media website.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
Six plus years later this still packs a wallop. Many things make more sense through the "customer service addiction" lens in this article. Worth chewing on, for certain.
Since we're doing Covid again. "Do you know what else has that kind of urgency? When an addict needs a fix. Because let me tell you something: for every alcoholic, functional or not, that I served a drink to, I served three people addicted to being served." dallas-taylor.com/2020/04/22/t...
never thought short form video would be able to capture a type of humor i can only describe as “the far side-esque” but this comes close.
d3 defensive coordinator after giving up nine hundred yards total offense
Max Miller is denying all the allegations against him and you can tell he's sincere because of the popped collar.
I wish someone had told me when I was younger that adults don’t actually have their shit together and everyone is still just a kid who’s faking it.
So many things get clarified once you replace the word “farmer” with “plantation owner”.
Assuming this source is good, an edifying list, considering recent developments. It's not how much crude you have. It's what you can do with it. statbase.org/datasets/ene...
Oil refining capacity. Data by Countries from 1965 to 2025

There's at least some COVID-related scars to the wine industry, too. Wine is a "socialize in small groups" beverage -- and the death of third spaces killed a lot of that demand. That said, from my days as an OG wine influencer, I never thought I'd see California producing more white than red.
This is a good piece, but again, I just find it fascinating the decline in alcohol consumption tends to be framed as a business problem and not a public health gain.
Maybe we all died of Covid in 2020 and this is hell.
You gotta watch the video for the noise. It's insane. Every time I see somebody ask "hey, why the backlash against data centers?" I'm puzzled because those people don't seem to understand data centers are *bad faith neighbors*. gizmodo.com/this-viral-d...
This Viral Data Center Sounds Like Satan’s Buzzsaw
My God, the looks on the faces of the people who have to live next to this...

My god. It's full of stars.
“Ultimately, Magic Mike XXL isn’t a hero’s journey, because it doesn’t believe in heroes... Instead of heroes, sexy dancing. Instead of telling the story of why the king is the king, sexy dancing” How have we had weeks of Odyssey discourse without citing this @hellafitzgerald.bsky.social banger?
“Stop wasting both our time here, admit you didn’t do the reading, and be on your way, Elon. And just so you know, no amount of cologne can mask that weed smell.”
The CBC is covering the fact that Matt Damon’s stunt double in The Odyssey is a 4’6” Canadian woman named Devyn Dalton with swole arms and chat, she has swole arms
Imagine being this rich and not having someone to grow you backyard tomatoes, one of the few shiningly perfect foods in this world. Seriously, what is the point of money?
Another odd moment occurred when Musk insisted that work in the future would be "optional" because robots would do everything. Musk said people might still work in the future but compared it to people who grow their own backyard tomatoes. He said they could just go to the store for better tomatoes.
For all my Gen X and Elder Millennials. Let me know if you remember this
Can't get numb to this: The United States is stuck in a war it started, cannot end, and may further escalate to no avail, having dismantled its diplomatic apparatus, depleted its military stockpile, and destroyed its credibility. A historic strategic mistake harming millions in many different ways.
Just imagine if you took all of the energy that people are wasting on conspiracy theories about Mitch McConnell and put it to work for @booker4ky.bsky.social , who happens to be an actual person running in an actual election for US Senate in Kentucky.
If anyone would like to see a short video of a dog using their tail as a rotar blade, this is your lucky day.
Still one of my favorite songs ever.
This is so cool. Imagine being a very young guitarist and getting to play one of the most iconic acoustic guitar intros in rock history for Nancy Wilson — the woman who wrote it, and one of the greatest living rock guitarists. (IG: Sierra Levesque)
