I used to watch SNL all the time; I watch Amy Poehler and guests joke about how great Lorne Michaels is on her podcast. But then he goes and platforms Shane Gillis, who openly says that women wearing gym clothes are whores. This is rape culture, and SNL & Lorne Michaels need to be punished.

Shane Gillis thinks women dress like whores when they work out. That’s his idea of saying something funny. It’s not a joke. It’s just misogyny. His “banter” about Chinese people wasn’t comedy. It’s just racism.

I realize it often feels like nothing matters anymore, but a comedian going on SNL and calling women whores— calling the ordinary women he sees at the gym *whores* — because of their clothes matters to me. It’s really gross, and I’m glad Levy said something.

Happy National Coming Out Day! I think about all the 2SLGBTQIA+ Disabled People who are in situations where they can’t come out due to lack of access, homophobia from caregivers and many other issues. I see you.

Disability is a human condition. Ableism is taught. Parents of disabled children need to listen to their kids. Lateral ableism sucks.

disabled people need to be so vigilant online. At the beginning of this year, I had 2 different men tell me how much they liked me, only to disappear and try to extort money out of me. Disability can be very lonely, but that loneliness can cost us. Stay safe out there.

trying to date with a disability is exhausting because you rarely get passed peoples ableism; and if you do, you might have to your own internalized ableism.

On top of my personal advocacy here, I am also the Board Secretary of the United States International Council on Disabilities. I have just started our Bluesky account @usicd.bsky.social Please follow us there, as we do a lot of humanitarian work for disabled people around the globe.

And before you get testy about my using the term “we”, I do that very deliberately, because my story has lots in common with people who were selected for “euthanasia”. By the end of Aktion T4’s trial period, there was little pretense toward trying to be humane about it.

as a disabled person living on benefits, I have to say, I feel weird about money. I always worry that I’ll never be okay; never be fully supported. When I make any money I feel like a criminal. There’s a whole emotional side to being disabled and benefits and money that we rarely understand.

They are no better today. Elders, survivors of residential schools completed another walk. To ask that funding for residential school survivors be continued when this government is ending it. So much for reconciliation. It is up to you, the voter, to demand better. 🪶
