So it's official. A legendary VFX wizard has passed away. 😞 Thunderbirds, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Space: 1999, The Empire Strikes Back, Alien, Aliens, Space Truckers, Moon Zero Two, Dragonslayer, DragonHeart, The Neverending Story... Brian Johnson has brought many sci-fi & fantasy dreams to life.

For alien (1979), Brian Johnson carefully works on a detailed, intricate miniature spaceship model (USCSS Nostromo) using a small tool under studio lighting.

Some extremely sad news today folks. Multi OSCAR and award winning VFX legend, Brian Johnson has died. Stingray, Thunderbirds, 2001, Alien, Star Wars and so much more. I met him quite a few times, shared a show table and dinner once or twice. An absolute influence to many. RIP Brian. So long.

35 years ago, the much-anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog rolled into Mean Machines' office, and lo. There was much celebration and elbowing each other out of the way so we could play it. An overnight sensation who felt like he was here to stay. And decades later, he's still a star.

Clever trick on the Acorn Electron. Never saw it before (or perhaps I forgot). This is Palace of Magic 2016. Screen mode 2, with a nice centered viewport and HIDDEN DATA all around it. Accomplished by making colours 8 through 15 black and encoding your data in the lower 6 bits of each hidden byte

What if the Acorn Archimedes had its own Star Fox? Wing Star is a 90s 3D demo that pushed the system in impressive ways, blending ideas from Star Fox and Afterburner. You can try it yourself too at Games That Weren't.
