What’s the maximum speed you feel safe cycling in a city and why? For me it’s somewhere around 30kph/20mph - above that the speed of having to deal with ‘situations’ (holes in road, dipshits walking into traffic, cars turning across you etc) gets stressful. Why do car drivers feel 50-60kph is safe?

“In London cyclists now outnumber cars in the City by 2 to 1. Paris, where they now outnumber motorists across the whole city, is catching up with Europe’s traditional bike capitals, Amsterdam & Copenhagen…In Copenhagen, bikes account for almost half of commuter trips to work/school.” @economist.com

Idea for performance art: Either one person on phone or two people in conversation, and discuss a completely insane narrative to hook bystander tables into listening. Like a small theatre production for an unsuspecting audience.

Man walking down the street screaming “how can they show their face with dignity and pride when they goddamn lie all the time. ALL THE TIME!!” So many possibilities.
The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.
Good to see that Donald Trump can see that total surrender is on the table.
I wonder if it will turn out that AI is the most incredible tool for academic research (eg bio, maths etc) but has no viable economic application for any routine human task. That it is at once wonderful and useless. That the techbros have built the most ivory tower tech ever with no business plan.

Trump: “The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to all of those who participated. I won with a 70, & am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, bc I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it”

When it comes to Trump’s money laundering, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The Trump Soho laundered Russian mob money. Trump Panama laundered drug cartel money. Trump Azerbaijan laundered Iranian Revolutionary Guard money. Florida real estate was used to launder Russian oligarch money.
🚨 NEWS: In a new court filing, Capital One says Donald Trump’s accounts were closed in 2021 after months of analysis by its anti-money laundering (AML) professionals, not because of politics, as Trump has long claimed. 1/

I don’t think even many of those who have come to recognize Donald Trump's extreme narcissism and his sociopathy have any idea how dangerous this phase of his pathology is. When malignant narcissists go down, they try to take as many people as they can with them.
Listen- If you are going to feed my unpublished paper into an AI data set, can you at least delete the prompt from your review before submitting? Not only is this unethical but it's a goddamn waste of my time. I'd rather have gotten a desk reject.

@raxkingisdead.bsky.social is great. And this is the take. I enjoyed Nolan's film, and will watch again when it's available at home. But "Oh Brother" is an all-timer.

Is it smart to tell your enemy in a war “we will bomb you to make you surrender but don’t worry we will stop by Monday so it won’t spook our markets but definitely definitely surrender ok”? Hard to say.
