I have been invaded by ants. This morning I saw them on the kitchen worktop, followed them to one of the kitchen cupboards then backtracked them to the entry point. Ant powder from a neighbour and problem on the road to being sorted. Worse was to come. Hummingbird Hawk Moth in garden. No camera 😭

It's outrageous that we're about to lose the National Glass Centre. Yet another building in Sunderland that quickly became unfit for purpose, was sold off for a nominal amount, and allowed to deteriorate to the point of demolition being more cost-effective than repair.

It was very still & the sky was the dull silver of a mermaid's mirror. The swifts who nested in the thatch were leaving that night, flying to Madrid, then south, south, south across the Sahara, carrying tales of Old Fox’s cottage, tales of love, of sickness, of fear, of hope.
When the story of why humanity didn't stop climate change is written, it will feature front pages like this. Even as the skies blacken with climate change-induced wildfires, right wing media continue their relentless crusade against measures to tackle it.
