56-year-old disabled former journalist and environmental campaigner [insert verb depending on my state of health] among the flora and fauna of this ancient landscape. (New Forest, U.K.)
🧵UK media has been duped about net-zero (again) The playbook is identical: 1️⃣ Find a big scary number 2️⃣ Speed-dial non-specialist hacks 3️⃣ Do say “serious economic damage” 4️⃣ Don’t say “we pretended gas is free” 5️⃣ That's it! Many papers still fell for it 🤷
The Arctic is cooking and we are in serious trouble In what should be one of the coldest places on Earth Its 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32.2 degrees Celsius), as hot as Orlando Florida Without Arctic natural air conditioning systems we are toast www.scientificamerican.com/article/its-...
It’s 90 degrees in the Arctic right now

This is exactly what Repair Cafés have been campaigning for. The UK must do this too! Don't bin it, fix it.

We spray poison to kill pests. But we killed the pollinators too. We broke the chain that feeds us. And the companies profiting from this ecocide face no consequences.
Have you tried and failed to make sourdough when everyone else got the knack of it during the pandemic? Were you tempted to pelt the Youtubers who claimed it was "simple" with the rock-hard results of your attempts? Worry not! There's a shortcut... Miso sourdough See alt text for recipe.

The Daily Telegraph has raced through all five stages of climate denial this week. But this is, perhaps, the most ridiculous column so far: "Without minimising the severe downsides…especially on some poorer nations, many in Britain would enjoy the kind of warmer climate predicted by modellers..."
And here is some of that "Mediterranean lifestyle", as reported by today's Telegraph website...
And note how the frontpage of the Telegraph juxtaposes news of her comment piece with a huge image of wildfires burning close to Sizewell nuclear power plant. One of her promises: "We will build nuclear power"
Is “pragmatic” the new, “grown up” word? Andy, there’s nothing “pragmatic” about drilling for more oil & gas - to even consider it with the planet literally on fire is total madness. How many times must we say it will do nothing for energy bills or security? It would be an act of utter recklessness
Burnham promises ‘pragmatic’ approach to North Sea oil and gas
PM tells reporters the government cannot ignore the energy resource ‘when people are struggling’

It's alive! 🧌 The primordial soup, aka my new bathtub-pond, has burst out with babies. Yes...mosquito larvae! Any ideas on how to bring in some insect-eaters? A friend advised that I scoop a bit of drying mud from a natural pond, in hopes it contained frog or newt spawn. Is that how its done?
asphalt is such an ancient invention. roads should be made with recycled materials that do not give off heat and that charge the vehicles that travel upon them.
