3:42.66 ‼️‼️‼️ THE WORLD RECORD IS NO MORE. Josh Kerr 🇬🇧 delivers on the hype of Project 222 as he takes down Hicham El Guerrouj’s 1999 world record in the mile, running 3:42.66 to become the first man in history under 3:43.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

This is literally more than I paid for my undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees combined. And will this money actually be used to cultivate students’ intellectual curiosity and overall wellbeing? Nope. Shameful.

Duke University, which has recently increased class sizes, has raised cost of attendance to an incredible $96,597 per year. Congratulations to the investors in this exceptionally profitable hedge fund. www.dukechronicle.com/article/duke...

Duke’s Board of Trustees approved a 4.95% increase in the undergraduate cost of attendance in February, pushing the total price tag up to $96,597 for students not on financial aid. Tuition alone comprises $73,740 of the total cost, and the main driver of next year's $4,555 overall increase in cost of attendance is a $3,475 tuition hike, also a 4.95% increase.

I’m really proud of the work we have done so far in our coverage of the World Cup. So proud that I’m going to indulge in a thread (in reverse order) sharing our episodes, since I can’t imagine most people have been able to keep up.

Sending a huge thanks to @johannamellis.bsky.social and @annaposbergh.bsky.social for my first real book celebration for “Erecting the Pulpit.”

Hauntingly reminiscent of when the International Olympic Committee told the Haitian Olympic Team at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics that they couldn’t wear the image of Toussaint L’Ourverture on their uniforms—hmm…what could the political throughline possibly be here?

FIFA has prohibited Haitian World Cup jerseys with a depiction of the Nov. 18, 1803, Bataille de Vertières aka the triumph of the Haitian Revolution against slavery. Depraved. amp.miamiherald.com/news/nation-...

Though Saeta and FIFA have not said publicly said what design element in the men’s official World Cup soccer kits prompted FIFA’s, a source told the Miami Herald that it’s the illustration of the Nov. 18, 1803, Bataille de Vertières with the Haitian flag embedded on the jerseys, which the team wore during their two warmup matches in South Florida last week.

The unquestionably appropriate moral and political position on the coming World Cup is boycott. But, the tournament is happening, and the politics matter, so @endofsportpod.bsky.social will be providing wall-to-wall coverage of the angles you won’t get elsewhere. Join us.

This past year at FSU, I was flagged by the provost’s office and my research funds were retroactively pulled because supporting my research would, allegedly, jeopardize FSU’s state funding. It’s almost like…preemptively complying didn’t actually matter?! 🤔 www.highereddive.com/news/florida...

The trauma of sex testing for athletes isn’t the cheek swab, it’s the moment when people are told their ‘sex’ doesn’t align with their identity. @reveleth.com explains how frequently this actually occurs at *every* Olympics.
