What should Short Story Club read next? Must be: - available online for free - around 5000 words - this month's was 7000ish and felt a little long - we read a lot of speculative fiction, but are open to other genres - horror has not worked well. Recommending your own writing is very welcome!
@rsagarcia.bsky.social Hi!!! I really loved This Is An Emergency Broadcast! You did a great job of world building and story telling in a short format. I am especially charmed by it because it reminds me of the beginning of Brunner's Stand on Zanzibar - any inspiration there?
Tonight's Short Story Club was on clarkesworldmagazine.com/garcia_07_26/ by @rsagarcia.bsky.social as always, fun to discuss! Some questions: - are we perceiving things that the sleepers are experiencing? - is this TOLD in the form of a "wave" in the sense it is used in the story?

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Free healthcare would solve so many problems for people in this country. So many.
We can all do something and that to me is the bottom line. Do something.
this time for short story club, we read @nisishawl.bsky.social 's www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/over... Great discussion, absolutely no agreement in the group about what was real. Or should have counted as real. Recommend it to read with friends.

In the last 4 days, I read Those Beyond the Wall, the sequel to The Space Between Worlds. I gave both books 4.5 stars - strong recommend. I loved both books a LOT - they have different point of view characters and vibes. I do think you should read them in order for context on the world.

tonight's short story club read was www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/dros... by @ghoulpus.bsky.social It's got a lot going on and we had spirited discussion. I think it's a good sign for a short story when we can all say it was well-written and then argue about morality for an hour.
