Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at the Hairpin Arts Center in the 35th Ward for a town hall on the Fair Elections Ordinance. The proposal would create a public campaign financing program that matches and amplifies small-dollar contributions in Chicago municipal elections.

❌ Today, for a second quarter in a row, City Council has ghosted CTA at the quarterly hearings THEY mandated by law. This is profoundly unacceptable, particularly as we are rapidly racing toward a critical deadline for NITA board appointments that will have to be approved by Council.

The Grace’s Furniture building has been vacant for 20 years. When I became alderman last year, I made it a priority to help secure an adaptive reuse project that would bring good-paying jobs and community benefits to the 35th Ward. I am proud that we have delivered this investment in Logan Square.

Logan Square neighbors and LGBTQ+ people from across the city raised a Progress Pride Flag over the Northwest Side neighborhood on June 1 in a jovial Pride Month kickoff that included drag, rainbow cupcakes and dance music. The tradition—now in its third year—served as a reminder that queer communities exist in every Chicago neighborhood and not just famous enclaves like Lakeview and Andersonville.

The former Diplomat Motel on Lincoln reopened as Haven this month, serving as Chicago’s first transitional shelter that gives each resident their own private, bathroom-equipped room.
