I believe that most cities are not providing as much service as they could so they need more revenue and that most cities are spending too much on spending too little. I also think this line of reasoning might sound good but it's fairly easy to debunk.

Honestly cant overstate how important Alt Text and the 'from:me' search function have been in making what I do possible Use Alt Text Most Importantly: it helps people whom don't have as easy a time navigating everyday life as you. Literally the least you can do But also; it's helpful for you too

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs. However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

An infographic. There are six panels. 1. "Slow internet. Alt text is shown in place of unloaded images." a drawing shows a phone with poor signal, and alt text is visible where the image should have loaded. 2. "Findabillity. Alt text helps to search content." A drawing shows someone searching 'dog with banana' and a post is shown underneath without the words 'dog' or 'banana'. It is implied to be part of the alt text. 3. "Screen readers. Alt is read out to people using text-to-speech software". There is a drawing of the output a screen-reader would show when viewing an image with alt text on bluesky. 4. "Translation. Alt text can be translated". A drawing shows a post being translated. The alt text is also translated into german. 5. "Readability. Text in images can be made legible" There is a drawing of some truly awful handwriting inside a speech bubble. The alt text clarifies what the text is supposed to say. 6. "Disambiguation. Description helps clarify intent." There is a drawing of a post with a picture of a creature. This is styled after the famous optical illusion of a rabbit and a duck. The alt text clarifies that the animal is a rabbit. It definitely looks more like a duck.

I mean it's bad news that they're going after Head Start but also this article is bad news bc it doesn't know what the program is.

The district wants the board to eat this sandwich, but particularly the part of the board that is not content with austerity. I think the Board has to come out swinging like the publicly accountable oversight agency it was meant to be. It might be the only option they have left.

I don't need to tell you what people are going to say. Instead of falling back into established political narratives, let me offer you a different one: the school district does not really respect its elected board which means that by extension it doesn't really respect the voters or the public.

This year the budget is short again. The district has really stepped up its talking points about structural revenue issues. This is very good. But it's not getting fixed this year. The district has to hold both "it's not enough money" and "this is what we have and we will budget around it."

There are lots of people (many of whom are uninterested in progressive revenue and strong public systems) who want to use this to beat up the district. Do I love how CPS spends its money? No. Do I think this is proof we should cancel public education? Also no.
