Galway, Ireland. Nature, birdwatching, wildflowers.

Tackling pollution in Lough Neagh, the UK and Ireland’s largest freshwater lake, requires collaboration and robust scientific evidence. 🧪 The CLEAR-Neagh project, led by UKCEH, is using advanced DNA-based methods to trace pollution across the catchment. Swipe for info about our recent workshop ➡️

Just about to leave for last minute trip to Ireland. Is there any chance at all of seeing Irish Lady’s Tresses? Arriving first in Larne, along Antrim Coast to Derry, then Wild Atlantic Way to Donegal, bit of Connemara National Park, New Grange before heading home from Dublin. #wildflowerhour

Question: do I know anyone near Nantes who would be willing to pick up a dead gull-billed tern and its logger? L49 has sadly been killed near a road. I’d be very grateful for a picture and the logger and would of course reimburse postage.

Hummingbird Hawkmoth Macroglossum stellatarum larva found at night on Cleavers. Easiest to find with the aid of a UV torch as they are fluorescent in UV. If you would like to find one in the UK there has never been better chance. Find some Bedstraw growing over a south facing wall or bank

'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.
