I read Scientific American religiously as a kid. Recently got a subscription to the print magazine in the hopes of passing it on to my own kids. This is a big part of why we want socialism - to save all sorts of valuable existing institutions from being wrecked by their irresponsible owners.

I felt vindicated reading that Reed, a Texan, always saw Juneteenth as a Texas celebration. Her dive into the complicated history of Texas, slavery, integration & this holiday is riveting.
