keep thinking about the evil of this. It's not just destroying the physical books, bad as that is. They are trying to remove the underpinnings of knowledge, destroy all the accumulated wisdom - and silliness, and creativity, and whatever else humans have thought worthy of writing down.
No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.

In the safety engineering literature, we don't really believe in "accidents". You build a system, it does a thing, if you don't like what it does, that's on you for having built it, and you get to restructure the system to avoid such unacceptable losses in the future.
I think people are very credulous to take OpenAI's claim that a major hack by their software was "accidental" at face value

The EU is all too happy of late to frame itself as being "behind". It may be behind on billionaires and unicorns and wealth inequality, but it's streaks ahead on regulation and digital rights. When did that become something not worth shouting about? I had some thoughts on this on Inside Story.

Great to see this out there: Majority of participants reported camouflaging ADHD. Motivations: to survive in a neurotypical society. Strategies: hiding, pretending, suppression, compensation. Consequences: exhaustion, mental health problems, perpetuation of unrealistic expectations and stigma.
Finally masking research for ADHD. Pretty sure it's going to be thought of as super helpful. "Camouflaging in adult ADHD functions to fulfill social and safety needs at the detriment of other important psychological, relational, cognitive, and systemic outcomes." Cool. Cool cool cool.
