As an aside, this is such an important book on methodology, no matter if as a historian you write about a small village in medieval Italy or postcolonial Haiti. It is an absolute scandal that it's not recognised among the classics of history methodology. It was just recently translated in German.

Sad to hear that Shereen Ratnagar passed away today. She was one of the few indian archaeologists who did not fall for the state hindutva agenda. She and another archaeologist Dhaneshwar Mandal wrote a scathing critique of controversial Ayodhya ASI excavations.
