Thank you for this feature! I'm admittedly awkward on video, but I really enjoyed working on the spotlight piece and taking a bigger picture view of my research trajectory!

Our latest work indicates that when we have to choose how to act to reach our goals, we do not just select the correct motor commands; we select between integrated representations of goals, actions, and expected sensory outcomes. Our results invite us to rethink how the brain controls action!

Goal-directed action selection relies on conjunctive representations that bind goals, actions and expected sensory outcomes https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.07.24.740508v1

Very excited to share our new review on C-HORSE, our model of the hippocampus! We think there is very encouraging alignment between C-HORSE proposals and the extant empirical literature, though we also note plenty of areas for further model development. royalsocietypublishing.org/rstb/article...

Evidence for complementary learning systems within the hippocampus

Abstract. Decades of research have established the hippocampus as central to episodic memory, but growing evidence suggests that it also contributes to str

New preprint, led by Naser Al-Fawakhiri w/ Vik Chib, showing that the value of different movement goals affects motor adaptation. We think the results reflect a novel "instrumental-motor transfer" effect (à la Pavlovian-Instrumental transfer). Feedback welcome! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Instrumental-Motor Transfer: The Relative Value of Competing Movement Goals Modulates Implicit Motor Learning

Multiple learning signals can shape motor output, including reward and punishment (via value-based reinforcement learning) and sensorimotor error (via motor adaptation). However, it is unclear if acti...
