Kāpiti Coast resident, public servant, Jew, communications and engagement leader. Also I have a really cute dog.
Was meant to do a few (non-urgent) things after work today for three boards I'm on but really wasn't feeling it so moved them all to tomorrow in my diary. That meant I wouldn't have time to go to the gym after work tomo, so I'm doing that now instead. Not sure if that's successful procrastination?
Our kererū friend is back, it seems to come hang out late afternoon most days now.
Surely the Prime Minister could have found and booked a big venue for his Kāpiti public meeting that wasn't Jevon McSkimming's church...
This was basically me - I have never read it, and the only tiny bits of the story I knew in advance were from references in popular culture (the trojan horse, and that they'd make a choice between a big whirlpool and a big monster). The rest was entirely new to me.
So glad I will get to experience watching The Odyssey as someone who doesn’t care that it’s a poem or whatever, you won’t catch me caring about its faithfulness, I will simply be whispering to the person next to me “that’s the horse” when the Big Wooden Horse appears
Our new friend who's been hanging out in our garden for the last two days
Did the thing, now I've got the certificate to prove it.
1080 is an incredible conservation tool. "The North Island kōkako population in the Hūnua Ranges has reached a record 418 breeding pairs, making it the largest single mainland population of the threatened native bird in New Zealand."

Ugh Matatū, what are you doing? Losing to the Blues means the Poua don't make the final, this sucks 😭😭😭

the reveal - the absolute and total fumbling awe of Grant and Sattler as they see dinosaurs for the first time, just as John Williams’ greatest score kicks into full gear - is one of the best scenes in all of cinema

I personally believe the main reason that we haven't had a modern dinosaur film that's better than Jurassic Park is because JP is all about how we see dinosaurs. I can think of few blockbusters that are as focused on reinventing how the audience perceives a subject.
Just sharing this again at a time of what's happening in Australia. In Event Horizon Sam Neill requested that the Australian flag on his character's uniform remove the Union Flag from the corner & for it to be replaced with the Aboriginal flag, the way he thought it should look in 2047
So close as we head to halftime! If Viljoen had managed to hold onto that last pass we'd have had every chance of going into the break at 19-all. Down by seven, every chance of taking a win at the end. Let's go Poua! #SuperRugbyAupiki
My prediction for RNZ #Waiata100: 2nd place - Slice of Heaven 1st place - Poi E
Been learning to do cryptic crossword clues lately, and Google AI has been a really big help 👍
I've eaten breakfast every day for the last 3 weeks, the first time I've done that since I was at primary school 30ish years ago. Gotta say, it's pretty weird eating when you're not properly awake yet. Not sure I'm a fan.
It's Kāpiti Hot Chocolate Competition time! Tried the Arancia al Cioccolato from Passo first up. It was perfect, 10/10. Italian dark hot choc w/ orange & green cardamom, topped w/ cinnamon cream, candied orange, dehydrated orange, pistachio & almond tuile, and pistachio crumb. #KapitiHotChoc2026
Hurricanes Poua Aupiki winning streak continues! Leeesssssgggooo Ladies!!!!!
We won! 45-30 to the Poua against a Blues team absolutely stacked with Black Ferns. Glorious victory, it truly is the Hurricanes' year! #SuperRugbyAupiki
I've been a Poua season ticket holder every year since the start. This season is the best I've seen us play I reckon. To beat the Manawa last week and be ahead of the Blues 23-15 at halftime today? Bloody brilliant. #SuperRugbyAupiki
