I've said it before and I'll say it again, the mainstream media in this country aren't going to be satisfied until a wāhine Māori politician is dead, either at their own hand or someone else's.

In those twelve years the NZ media has targeted multiple brown women politicians, including publishing made up stories about the sex life of Wellington's former mayor being spread by bad faith actors. It's not just that the NZ media don't care, it's that they're active participants in this.

You know what sucks about all the coverage on this rugby summit to debate the future of the NPC and Super? Wherever they land will ultimately have a direct flow on to the structure of the women’s game but we aren’t even a part of any of the conversation I’ve seen.
