I knew I was having bad executive functioning issues but yesterday I learned about functional freeze. Pretty sure I’ve been there for a long time. I read that creativity and journaling can help, and I’ve already been writing with pen and paper and finding it helpful in organizing my thoughts.

Oh boy I learned the term “functional freeze” and I’m pretty sure that’s the state I’ve been stuck in for months 😟

When disabled people/many people who work on disability/health pointed to the dangers of this kind of framing since COVID, they were usually mocked ("oh you think everything is eugenics") or ignored. But normalising the idea that the deaths of disabled people are desirable/reassuring is dangerous.

She is my first and last thoughts every single day. Every single day, such heavy thoughts. I love to picture her smile and laugh, even though those images quickly remind me of the cold permanence of her absence.

As a deaf person I say HELL YEAH to the ppl who used Deaf applause (see 1:35). Notice I said: applause, not clap. The distinction is important. The rules were don’t clap bc the sound delays between speakers. Deaf applause was silent. But then they added another rule: don’t wave, it‘s distracting.

Dr. Mehmet Oz attempted to show proper squatting form by posting a video in which he loses his balance performing what he calls a “super simple” exercise.

For example: There is no path for me, a deaf person, to easily inquire about accessibility when I’m called for jury duty in Indiana. My only option is to say “Yes” to the infuriating question, “Do you suffer from a physical or mental disability that would prevent satisfactory jury service?”
