i don't have skin the game for the Current Thing beyond getting annoyed, both that a bunch of smart people who definitely know better Felt Ways Online in full view of a zillion people who don't yet, and that they should be able to do this and can't. the sharp whirling blades don't care who they cut.

an Artist is not required to explain, defend, or justify their Art and that abscence is not a reliable indicator of their motivation, message, state of mind, or beliefs. sometimes prompting reflection on your reaction to the work is the point. sit with it awhile, learn something about you

if enough people forget how to experience discomfort without making it everyone else's problem, then eventually there won't be anyone left to teach and maintain that wisdom listen, feel, think, scroll down
I am shocked to see people I like and respect malign @toledo.bsky.social, one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I know. Engage with his work or don't, like it or don't. But every single person calling him a cult propagandist is being willfully ignorant and/or malicious and should be ashamed
“I was asked not to mention the Times at all. I’m choosing not to honor that norm, b/c silence abt how accountability journalism gets suppressed is itself a form of suppression.” Read the back story of how @nytimes.com and @thebulwark.com killed @adambonica.bsky.social’s piece. What a mf badass.

can't buy the battery station separately, but i can get almost enough of the replacement parts to construct my own battery station this is extremely ifixit coded yeah yeah the pack is nice but it's $250 or $80 for the iron alone
i'm trying to talk myself into buying the battery station for that little ifixit iron because the usb lead is too short to work from a wall outlet and i don't have a stronk enough charger. but i really, really don't want any more batteries in my life that won't be used at least 3 times a week...
arstechnica.com/information-... this sucks but 50TB is n o t h i n g why doesn't the station have an LTO mech in the rack, or on prem? it's 2 tapes, maybe one if any of the files compress. that's just negligence pure and simple

this is what is supposed to happen. bluesky was never the product, it's atproto. unless you account for the 3rd party appviews and pds and non-twitter-like uses for atproto, you don't have the full picture and probably overindexed on normie accounts that showed up and thought it was mid.
Bluesky has seen over 25% declines in daily and monthly users in the past year and has lost half its regular users from the 2024 election spike. This is why its new CEO has said he wants the app to expand beyond liberal politics. The current focus isn’t attracting new users.
lmao @dansavage.bsky.social daring to invoke disney furries in a listener question about whether secret perving is ethical (yes). time to warm up the popcorn cannon
this is a very good improvement and it means i can almost totally clear out my muted account list :)

this reminds me of the Old Web when certain websites would have a mile of white-on-white comma separated keywords at the bottom. you know, back when websites had a bottom hey @gamersnexus.bsky.social maybe keep this one in your hat for future escalation after your megacharts are poisoned
Time Magazine has a separate version of its website with ads only AI can see

im glad the banking story is finally getting daylight but i have to say BoA's retroactive statement that the transactions had “no apparent [...] lawful purpose.” should send a chill.

Australia’s eSafety commissioner buried a report (released Friday afternoon) that shows the under 16 social media ban didn’t tangibly reduce teen social media use, and also resulted in parents tuning out of kids usage. We traded our privacy for no reason. theconversation.com/more-than-80...
More than 80% of kids still using social media despite ban, new eSafety report finds
The report provides more evidence Australia’s world-leading social media ban isn’t going to plan.
