4 days ago The Pentagon fired the editor in chief of Stars and Stripes. Yesterday they broke the story of Elsie Dominguez, a civilian engineer who was raped repeatedly by the Captain of a Navy ship she was on. They keep trying to silence the press & quash the truth. Elsie’s story must be told:

Lawsuit over sexual assault aboard Navy transport ship dismissed as worker’s comp issue

The order handed down this month closed an attempt by a civilian engineer to get justice for an assault she said threw her life into shambles.

Bec I was crying at work I ended up breaking the news to an entire Bio class getting a library tour...and the fact that they all gasped, knew who she was, and immediately got sad proves Dolly did things right. She crossed generations/so many other lines. Sad for us but happy you're with Carl Dean💔

My feed is (rightfully) upset about wild horses news coming from this administration. And while I will not defend the actions (or anything ever from this admin) I’d like to point y’all this great podcast sharing the complicated layers of wild horses. www.boisestatepublicradio.org/podcast/must...

For $125 you can get a wild horse from the Bureau of Land Management and try and train it. That’s what I did this spring. Bua’a (“friend” in Paiute) is a three-year-old mustang from the Beatys Butte w...

50 years of strip-mining on Black Mesa has reshaped the water, the land, and the people living on Navajo & Hopi lands. 45 billion gallons of Navajo groundwater pumped out. 12,000+ Navajos forcibly relocated. Reclamation so "shoddy" they reseeded the desert with Midwest grass.

Libraries make us a harder target for authoritarianism. Equal access to info, ideas, and space that doesn’t require a purchase to belong. Also: using the library means money stays in your community instead of streaming out to Amazon. 📚 What’s checked out on your card right now?

This is also relevant in terms of the Spokane fires arrest/announcement. This person may be guilty but while we still have some semblance of a (biased and corrupt) judicial system, it needs to be stated that this is just the arrest stage, and sometimes they're wrong! This is not a conviction. 🧵in OG

I've seen an uptick in sharing mugshots (tonight - greenbelt case, but many other incidents as well lately). Murder is wrong. Hurting people is wrong. Also, our police and justice system are corrupt AF and sharing mugshots is during that innocent until proven guilty phase is also wrong.1/

When we don't adequately fund public universities, and instead force students to take out loans, what we as a society are really doing is borrowing money from the younger generation—their hard-earned future income—to fund a necessary project that benefits us all: building an educated society.

1. This is bullsh*t & an epically stupid policy completely detached from any empirical evidence: bsky.app/profile/mcop... 2. We could simply avoid this entire issue by <all together now> Funding. The. Damn. Public. Universities. Like. We. Used. To: bsky.app/profile/mcop...
